Become A Gen Parent
High School Teen Parents: Teen parents currently enrolled in a high school located in the Chicagoland area can apply to join our yearlong one-on-one intensive mentoring program. Once accepted, you will be matched with a Generation Mentor who will work directly with you to reach stated objectives at the beginning of the program. Many of our Mentors were once teen Moms themselves so they know firsthand the barriers a teen parent must overcome in order to be successful. We are the only organization in the Chicagoland area that teaches the eight components of moral and character development in our programs and inspires teen Moms to deal with real issues in a language and manner that they can relate to.
If you are interested in our mentor program, please submit your application by July 1st. If selected, our Program Manager will contact you and your Parent/Guardian to schedule an Intake meeting. At that time, an interview and program overview will take place to learn more about you and answer any questions that you may have. Once approved, you will begin your yearlong intensive one on one mentoring program in July.
GENERATION MOMS would love to accept every teen parent into our programs; however our mentor program capacity is limited at this time. We apologize in advance for turning away any young Mom and can assure you that we are working tirelessly to recruit new Generation mentors to our programs.
College Teen Parents: Teen pregnancy is most often unintended. When it happens, the consequences affect the teen parents, child and fellow family and community members.
With the help and guidance of women who were once teen Moms themselves, GENERATION MOMS mentoring program serves to change these odds by giving adolescent mothers the support and incentives they need to become self-sufficient and nurturing parents.
GENERATION MOMS will provide small financial scholarships to teen parents currently enrolled in an accredited college in the Chicago-land area. At this time, college scholarships are only given to teen parents who can display a significant financial need to complete their education. Scholarship recipients will receive up to $500 per academic year to help them attain a college degree. Many of the teen parents enrolled in our programs are first generation college students and we are helping them build a strong legacy for their children to follow.
